We have plenty of foals on the ground, the flat racing season is well underway, the competition season is warming up and it’s great to be working outside now we don’t have to wear quite so many layers! Many of you will know that Emma has very sadly sustained a broken leg after a kick. I am sure you will join me in wishing her all the best for a speedy recovery.
We normally see increasing numbers of laminitis at this time of year with the spring grass. Although modern drugs like the SGLT inhibitors, that help horses excrete more glucose in their urine have been a great help, there is still no substitute for pasture management. Strategies including strip grazing and using grazing muzzles which will also help reduce intake of the rich grass.
Below you will find details of our Laminitis and Equine Metabolic Syndrome (EMS) package, which we hope will help some of our at-risk patients. This is now launched and may be booked at the discounted price through the office 01722 741188/ Whatsapp 07572 167343/office@pinkhamequine.com.
And to strengthen our commitment to supporting thoroughbreds leaving the racetrack for second careers as riding/competition horses, please also see below details of our Racehorse to Riding Horse package; bundling and discounting several insightful diagnostic services focussed on understanding some of the issues encountered with these equine athletes. This compliments our upcoming collaboration with Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) in June 2026 – details soon!
Thank you for your continued support of the practice. Pinkham Equine continues to support local clubs and shows and are planning some of our own events over the summer months. I look forward to seeing many of you then!
Best wishes
