About Our Routine Care Services
Pinkham Equine strives to provide the best and most modern preventative healthcare to its equine clients. As part of our routine, core services we offer:
- Flu, tetanus, EHV, lawsonia and strangles vaccinations
- Dental check-ups, routine dental maintenance, and wolf teeth extractions
- Microchipping, identification and passporting
- Worm burden testing, advice, and tailored deworming programmes
- Castration of colts
- Body condition scoring and dietary advice
Routine vaccinations including influenza, tetanus, equine herpes virus and strangles are important to control the spread of disease through the equine population. At Pinkham Equine, we have an understanding of the various vaccination rules across the equine disciplines, and have an automated electronic reminder system to help clients remember their annual due dates *
Routine dentistry acts as preventative care by helping to avoid long term, painful dental issues. Pinkham Equine have battery powered dental equipment. Alongside a small amount of sedation, this ensures that your horse has a stress free and thorough dental examination.
* Vaccination compliance remains the responsibility of the horse owner. Reminders are provided as an aide memoire but should not be relied upon.
It is now regulatory for your horse to have a passport, and at Pinkham Equine we can complete the identification documents required from your chosen society or association. All horses must now be microchipped as a regulatory requirement. All of our vets carry microchip scanners and will be able to confirm whether your horse is microchipped. If required, they can carry out this procedure for you.
Worm resistance has become an increasing issue for horses. Preventative worm control is now moving towards regular worm egg counts and targeted worming. We have a full onsite laboratory service which provides fast and thorough diagnoses for worm egg counts, and our vets are always happy to advise and create an individual worm control programme for your horse.
