Pinkham Equine pleased to renew our support at Portman Point-to-Point

Last Sunday (12th November) we were pleased to renew our support of the Portman Point to Point in Dorset, where members of the Pinkham Equine team enjoyed an afternoon of competitive racing.  Emma Hill, Rebekah McFarling, Pippa East and Emma Bowden represented the practice in judging the Best Turned Out award for three of the six races on the race card and although the weather deteriorated throughout the afternoon, it didn’t dampen the spirits of our team.

Testing Conditions

Local Point-to-Point trainer and Pinkham Equine client Hannah Clarke sent out two runners, who both finished 4th in their respective races.  Wireless Operator, an 8 year old gelding by Presenting, was partnered by his owner Ollie Chamings in the The Greenhavens Landscapes Conditions Race for Grass Roots Riders. Ollie was making his debut as a jockey and was given the best possible introduction to race riding by his horse. He is is now looking forward to the next race! Hannah’s second runner, Right Hand of God, an 8 year old by Norse Dancer, finished a gallant 4th  in the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance Restricted Race later in the afternoon. Hannah’s partner Charlie Marshall guided him home in very testing conditions, where only 4 of the 13 starters completed.

Hannah has been training for around 5 years and currently trains 18 point-to-pointers at her Milton Abbas yard. She said: “We were delighted with the performances of both horses today in tough conditions and we know there’s more to come from them.  The incessant rain recently has meant we have horses that are ready to run but we’re praying for drying ground before our next runners in a couple of weeks’ time.”

We look forward to following the progress of Hannah’s string throughout the season.
