Elza Maes

Veterinary Surgeon

Elza has rejoined Pinkham Equine in February 2024 as a member of our stud team for the forthcoming breeding season, as well as supporting our routine care veterinary team.

She initially joined Pinkham Equine in January 2022 before leaving in the summer of 2023 in order to spend a breeding season at Arrowfield Stud in the Scone Valley, Australia, one of the largest thoroughbred breeding operations in the southern hemisphere.  During this time, she was able to further expand her knowledge and practical experience of reproduction in mares and neonatal foal care.

Elza graduated in 2020 from the prestigious University of Ghent, Belgium and subsequently completed an equine internship programme at the University’s own clinic, with a focus on equine internal medicine. During this year she was exposed to a large caseload, gaining practical experience in a wide range of medicine cases as well as neonatal foal intensive care.

In her spare time Elza enjoys being outdoors: spending time with her horse Engram, hiking or travelling.
